Chipotle Mexican Grill has opened it’s fast-casual restaurant in Ontario Mills, offering customers burritos, burrito bowl, tacos, quesadillas, and salads all made from scratch each day. The company feature a simple menu that allows customers to build their meal to their liking along an assembly line. All protein used at Chipotle include chicken, steak, barbacoa, carnitas, sofritas, and carne asada.
The cook marinates and cooks each of these proteins to order throughout the day. The restaurant prepares all ingredient in smaller batches to ensure the freshness of the food rather than using heat lamp to keep the food warm. The chicken is marinated in adobo, the barbacoa is braised slow with chipotle peppers and spices, and the carnitas are cooked slowly while cooking to tenderness.
Chipotle Opens in Ontario Mills
Each menu item have a build-your-own format. Burritos use a large flour tortilla to contain all the ingredients, while burrito bowl exclude the tortilla. Tacos come on a flour or corn tortilla, and the salad use the same ingredients but on a bed of romaine lettuce with chipotle honey vinaigrette.
All items come with white cilantro-lime rice, brown cilantro-lime rice, or no rice at all with black bean or pinto beans. All items come with a choice of salsas and toppings. Customers can have the mild fresh tomato salsa, roasted chili-corn salsa, tomatillo-green chili salsa, and tomatillo-red chili salsa for those who enjoys more heat.
Toppings include sour cream, cheese, guacamole, and lettuce with queso blanco available as an addition or side. The restaurant feature a chip and guacamole bar for those who want this popular pairing. The kitchen makes the tortilla chips in-house with corn masa, cut them into triangle, fried, and tossed in lime juice and salt.
The guacamole is made fresh daily with Hass avocados, red onion, jalapeño, cilantro, and lime juice. Queso blanco, made with aged cheese and chipotle pepper base, is also available as a dip option for those who would like to avoid the guacamole. Chipotle purchase its meats from responsibly raised chickens, hogs, and beef.
Specifically, they use chickens that is not treated with antibiotics, hogs that have access to the outdoors at the farm, and beef that meets animal welfare standard. Additionally, the produce is local and organic when possible and the company have partnered with regenerative agriculture farms. Chipotle features an assembly line in the restaurant that is perfect for customers who want to order in person.
Additionally, the app and website allow customers to order in advance for pickup. Digital orders comes on a separate shelf in the restaurant, while catering orders have a dedicated order process at the restaurant. The Chipotle restaurant at Ontario Mills follow the same format as other Chipotle locations.
An open kitchen sits behind the ordering counter to allow customers to see the cooks prepare the food. The restaurant features stainless steel and reclaimed wood finish throughout the dining area. Tables range from two-top tables to communal tables for groups of customer.
Some limited-time item include smoked brisket and other special protein that are available for specific time windows. The remainder of the Chipotle menu remain the same and the restaurant draw in regulars who come to eat during the daytime and into the evening. Chipotle members is part of a rewards program that gives them points with each purchase.
These point totals can be converted to free entrees over time. Additionally, there are bonus point rewards for specific item and time frames.
