Sitting in Orange, California, especially in the north of Orange County… The Outlets at Orange form an open shopping complex, that the Simon Property Group runs. Because of its closeness to the I-5, it is surprisingly easy to reach, only some minutes away from main attractions like the Disneyland Resort, the Angel Stadium, the Honda Centre and the Anaheim Convention Centre.
Those advantages attract both tourists and locals.
The mall did not always have its current name. Old timers recall it as “The Block at Orange” for many years, and before that it was called “The City Shopping Centre.” Even today, many long-time residents simply call it “The Block” from pure habit. The several name changes through its history confused some folks, although it stayed the same place always.
The Mills Corporation first launched the property, before the Simon Property Group took over the management.
The complex offers a strong mix of outlets and stores with reduced prices. Here you will find Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5th and Last Call of Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom Rack, Debs of Broadway Shoes, DKNY, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Banana Republic Factory Store and United States Polo Assn. The Nike Outlet attracts a lot of foot traffic. As the main outlet shopping place in Orange County, it fills a niche that no other in the region can match.
Shopping alone does not suffice for the Outlets at Orange. Fun activities are a whole part of the trip. Dave & Buster’s, Bowlmor Lucky Strike Bowling and the vast AMC Theater with IMAX screens form the main offer.
Also, hear operates the Vans Skatepark. Something that one rarely finds in average shopping centres. That mix of attractions makes it ideal for families or groups that want more than only shopping.
Food is also important for the whole mood. More than twenty restaurants and food stores work in the complex. T.G.I.
Friday’s and L&L Italian Kitchen form the core of the dining, while for a fast meal one can grab fresh soft pretzels at Wetzel’s Pretzels, right beside the adidas Outlet Store. L&L Hot Dogs offer another easy option, and the visible production at Krispy Kreme gives you the chance to watch donuts be made fresh before taking a free sample.
The open air creates a very different feel compared to typical closed malls. The weather shapes the experience, because no roof protects above, but luckily, the climate of Orange County blesses most days in the year.
One spot deserves attention: the prices in some outlets sometimes are a bit higher than one expects from real outlet deals. You could find products at similar costs as in average department stores, so it pays to look closely for actual discounts and check prices a bit. The centre also includes HomeGoods and PetSmart, that expand the range beyond only fashion stores.
For those that grew up in the region, the mall has nostalgic value. Ron Jon Surf Store and Borders Bookshop were main attractions during the era of The Block and stay in the memories of many long-time residents of Orange County, although both now closed. The property experienced big changes through the decades.
Yeezy Sneakers form part of the notable stores at the Outlets at Orange and accept various payment forms, from Apple Pay to crypto. The access is good through the whole place, with wheelchairs for visitors that need them.
The position is hard to beat. The closeness to Disneyland and other landmarks of Orange County attracts outside tourists that want to include shopping in their holidays. Parking by car is free, and nearby parking lots make it easy forthose that travel from elsewhere.
This interactive map shows the current information about stores during its creation, although the tenants change sometimes, we will update as needed. Save this page in your bookmarks, so that you can easily check the list before your next trip for shopping.
